Found Adobe chat, took about 45 min for them to get it working. I used PSE6 for years and loved it. Adobe has a lot more features than the Free photo apps, so I will persevere.
I'm usually very good with software, but I find this one very challenging. What a nightmare to install. Bought this for my Dad's Imac running macOS Then it wanted to update of course and that took another 2 hours. Sadly this is typical for Adobe products, I don't think they will ever make things simple again.
The program itself is slow to launch, and very confusing just to use. Really Adobe?? Would I buy this again??? There has to be a better way. This turned out to be the wrong version for my Mac and I returned it, so my review is relevant to the new version I subsequently downloaded.
However, it's valid compared to the much older version I'd used since That older version was simple, fast to run and contained most of the features I found useful in the full PhotoShop software I used at work before retirement.
The newer PhotoShop Elements has to be booted twice; once to get to an intermediate page the combines the photo editor with other things, and then again for the editor. Both boots are interminable. Once started It runs so slowly as to be virtually useless.
Presumably, the idea is to aggravate people into buying a new faster computer. Be warned. Report abuse. Truly the most annoying software I have attempted to use. The download and installation is annoying and not easy to to do.
The help is really nonexistent. You will have to figure it out on your own. In their attempt to keep people from stealing their product they have made it difficult to access. It's a clean little program; has a pleasant interface.
Has some nice filters and the tools you'd come to expect from Photoshop Elements. But unfortunately, this particular version, as of this typing, has some serious drawbacks. Most glaringly, the just terrible Creative Cloud startup. You can't get rid of it, and it just slows down the productivity of anything you're working on. Boots up first, always, and then you can choose to use the Organizer or Editor. It's always there in the background until you close it.
You can't uninstall it without uninstalling the Editor. It's very annoying, and a waste of hard drive space if you ask me. Second, and this is a big one for anyone who uses programs like this for art as I do: it's glitchy with creative pen tablets. I use a Huion Kamvas Pro 13, and Photoshop Elements is the only program I use that seizes up as soon as any in-application scroll bar is tapped or dragged. You can't scroll through tools like brushes, for example , or even magnification bars.
It's a complete dead stop for productivity, and it's not fun at all. Turning off Windows Ink in the tablet driver fixes the scroll issue, but then you have zero pen pressure, and that's kind of a big reason why you'd use a tablet in the first place. You're better off using an older version of Photoshop Elements if you want to make art.
They work great! This program is fine for photo editing, but as soon as you want to get in there and use with a tablet anything that is not a drag-and-drop feature, you'd be better off using something else. Not a good look for Adobe, sadly.
